Neetu Kapoor, mother of actor Ranbir Kapoor, seemed to be take somewhat off-guard on the set of a talent show that she judges. Congratulated by the paparazzi, Ms Kapoor asked why and then grimaced, visibly unprepared, when the lensmen told her “dadi ban ne wali ho (you are going to be a grandmother).” For context, actress Alia Bhatt shared a post today captioned “Our baby is coming soon” with a picture of herself and husband Ranbir in hospital looking at what seems to be a ultrasound result on a monitor, the screen of which is obscured by a read heart emoji. Pressed, Neetu Kapoor responded to the paparazzi simply with a “Thank you,” repeated when told there is a “junior Kapoor on the way.”
Neetu Kapoor also said, “Dadi ban na, nani ban na is the best thing in the world (becoming a paternal or maternal grandmother is the best thing in the world).” She’s already a nani to Samara whose parents are Neetu Kapoor’s daughter Riddhima and Bharat Sahni.
All this happened on the set of talent show Dance Deewane Juniors. Video from which is circulating on various Instagram accounts. After recovering her poise, Neetu Kapoor managed to get in a shout-out for Ranbir Kapoor’s next movie Shamshera as well as Brahmastra which co-stars Alia.

The Internet is not entirely sure if the “baby” of Alia Bhatt’s post is actually a “junior Kapoor,” as the paparazzi put it, or Brahmastra, which releases in September. Some comments on Alia’s post suggest that she and Ranbir Kapoor, who she married in April, are on publicity duty for their film.
If so, it’s a fairly elaborate campaign involving members of Alia and Rambir’s families. “Our cup runneth over,” Alia’s mother Soni Razdan wrote in an Instagram Story.
Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima wrote in her Instagram Story: “My babies are having a baby.”
Alia’s sister Shaheen Bhatt shared a picture of Alia and Ranbir captioned, “Mom and dad.” Riddhima left a comment on the post that read, “Oh hello salary“
Here is the post Alia Bhatt shared this morning, with viral and traffic-stopping effect:
Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji, also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy. It releases on September 9.
